REFLECTIONS

Experience
In a dedicated 14-week study of typography, I have experienced significant growth in my knowledge and skills. I explored various aspects such as arrangement, creation, concept development, and the historical evolution of typography. Through hands-on tasks, I gained fresh insights and techniques, enjoying the process of experimenting with different typographic elements. Thorough research revealed the distinct nuances within seemingly similar designs, particularly in fonts. This realization deepened my understanding and opened up new avenues for exploration of the intricacies of typography. Overall, my study has expanded my knowledge base and refined my abilities in typography.

Observation
In my exploration of typography, I rediscovered the fundamental design elements of letters and symbols. Despite the vast array of designs, certain characteristics remain consistent. For example, the pound symbol ('#') typically features straight and parallel lines, while the letter 'Y' in some typefaces often displays a thicker stroke on the left side. Also, using fonts in a typographically correct way is crucial. Regardless of the quality of your typography, the font must conform.

Findings

Typography is an essential part of our daily lives, present in various mediums like trucks, signs, books, advertisements, and presentations. It combines simplicity with profound impact. Learning typography is a continuous process that involves searching for information, understanding concepts, and dedicating time to exploration and growth. While challenging, it offers valuable experiences. Through three specific tasks, I acquired practical knowledge and insights in typography, helping me discover my unique design style. Although not fully clear yet, I believe that consistent exploration will bring further clarity to my style. Typography demands ongoing learning and adaptation. It requires a balance between grasping foundational concepts and embracing the dynamic nature of design. As I continue my journey in typography, I anticipate personal growth and a more defined design style, enabling me to create impactful and meaningful typographic compositions.
