PROJECT 2 / CHANNEL BUMPER
INSTRUCTIONS
Project 2: Channel Bumper This project required us to design an abstract channel bumper with creative visuals and rhythmic audio. We used mood boards, style guides, storyboards, sketches, and digitized ideas to present a polished final design.
Moodboard and references
I chose Fanta as my brand for the project because I was intrigued by the effects I saw on Pinterest.
Storyboard Based on my storyboard, the outcome will be a looping animation. First, the logo pops out to help the audience remember the name. Next, the Fanta can push out to emphasize that Fanta is a soda. Finally, a transition brings it back to the logo.
Color Palette As orange is the classic flavor of Fanta, I will focus on using orange and white as the primary colors in my design.
Progress Fanta is a soda, and its key symbols are the bubbles and the flow of liquid, representing soda being poured out.
To get an overall visual, I created a draft in Procreate.
Firstly, I created the liquid transition using a YouTube tutorial and applied the Turbulent Displace effect. This effect made it easier to create a flowing liquid form without manually adjusting each part with the Pen tool.
After the effects and transition were done, I started the logo opening scene.
There's a shaking part in the middle where I aimed to show the Fanta shaking and exploding. I used the position tool to create an up-and-down movement, but it didn’t achieve the desired effect.

FEEDBACK
REFLECTIONS
This project challenged my After Effects skills. Since we worked on different aspects, YouTube tutorials were our primary resource for learning the desired effects. However, finding the right tutorial took considerable time. Another challenge was estimating the video duration, as it had to be 10–15 seconds.
Overall, the results matched what I envisioned. Unfortunately, due to time constraints, I couldn’t create the wave effect shown in storyboard picture 4. Instead, I replaced it with the liquid transition (symbolizing Fanta pouring down) to complete the loop, ensuring consistency with the first transition.
