LECTURES

Week 1

We received a brief introduction to the module and the upcoming assignments. Additionally, we reviewed some of the senior students' work to gain a better understanding of the expectations and requirements.

Week 2

Exercises

Week 1: E-Portfolio
Since our lecturer is not yet familiar with our work, this e-portfolio introduces our favorite projects and highlights the specific elements of motion graphics we enjoy. It's designed to help the lecturer better understand our creative preferences and artistic style.

Week 2

I participated in an event organized by Taylor to showcase graduate student works.

The event exceeded my expectations in every way. I was greatly surprised by the impressive work of our seniors. Unfortunately, I could only participate for half a day on Saturday. However, I found inspiration in the fashion designers' creations, which will influence the customer designs for my future characters.

Event Photos

The works I liked the most were the 3D modeling designs by Vivian and the fashion costume designs by Dania Ong and Julia Wey Khai Yee. Vivian's airplane design really caught my attention; I wish my Blender skills could be as professional as hers—she is truly a master at it. The models by Julia Wey Khai Yee showcased the elegance and sophistication of a refined girl. The pure white color of the costumes, combined with intricate designs and the eye-catching bags, really drew me in. Finally, Dania Ong's design captured a state of drowsiness, utilizing elements like pillows, sleep caps, and pajamas to portray a lazy aristocrat's demeanor. The model's slow-paced walk perfectly conveyed the overall relaxed vibe of her collection.

Week 5

Based on the demo video instructions:

  1. Design a 1080 x 1920 Poster for Instagram Stories in Photoshop.
  2. Use the pen tool to crop the image and make your composition.
  3. Then Animate the Composition as a 5-16 Second IG Video Story with Sound

Progress

Initially, I wanted to make the fish the focal point, similar to the image seen through a telescope. I used the fish tails and buildings to create the circular border of the telescope, but it seemed too crowded in the poster.

For poster 2, I aimed to create the impression of the fish floating in space, as if swimming in a fish tank. However, the result feels too empty.

Lastly, the image of the building reminded me of the term 'urban area.' So, I decided to make the building the focal point, use the fish tails as decorative fans, the rectangles as walls or bricks, and the circle as the sun.

Progress

I divided the layers into two groups, one for pictures and one for text, to make it easier to edit each element separately.
