ILLUSTRATION AND VISUAL NARRATIVE
PROJECT 1
In Project 1, our objective is to design and craft a unique character by leveraging the provided sets of shapes.
Progress
As per Mr. Hafiz's instructions, we will utilize the pen tool in Adobe Illustrator to meticulously trace and outline the shape of our character.
The character I'm designing is a formidable deep-sea monster, lurking in the depths of the ocean.
Progress
My generated words are 'bagel' and 'storm'.
Final Outcome
Reflection
As a novice in Adobe Illustrator, I initially faced challenges in using the pen tool effectively, resulting in a considerable amount of time spent on tracing shapes. These exercises proved to be more difficult than anticipated, and I encountered difficulty in creating the desired outcomes.
In Exercise 1, I initially intended to create a snake character using the given limited shape. However, I soon realized that the shape's curvature posed a problem for connecting the body segments seamlessly. Consequently, I explored alternative concepts such as dragons, enigmatic creatures, and human faces. Unfortunately, these attempts did not yield the desired results.
Returning to the idea of a snake, I decided to reimagine it as a sea monster. After some experimentation, I settled on a combination of snail eyes, a leech's mouth, and octopus legs to form a sea monster character.
Although I encountered challenges throughout these exercises, I persevered and ultimately became more familiar with the various tools and functionalities within Adobe Illustrator. This experience allowed me to grow in my understanding of the software and improve my proficiency as a beginner.
