Introduction

Biography about myself

My name is Tan Jie Ying. This is my second year of design at Taylor after the foundation. I’m 19 this year.

I enjoy drawing and aspire to become an artist in the future. This course has exceeded my initial expectations by introducing me to a wealth of fascinating techniques and allowing me to explore new avenues for expressing my ideas. I genuinely find it immensely enjoyable.

In my work, I aim to embrace a nonsensical style that defies conventional logic, yet carries a rebellious spirit. The resulting outcome promises to be undeniably captivating and remarkably cool.

I love this course.

About my work

As you see in the title of this project, “Self-tile”, this work probably is about yourself. Taking photos of others is an easy job, but taking photos of yourself is a challenge. It was hard to find a nice angle that you like. For me as well.

As I mention in my biography, is want to do a nonsensical style. I have thought about Monalisa and the way she poses gently and elegantly. I will take pictures based on her. My head will be separated. Half will remain, and the other half will be floating in the air. Wave will split out from the remaining head. For the background, I decided to put space.

For the second design, I have an idea of body flow. I get this inspiration from the scene of the dead body flowing in the river. ‘Me’ will flow in the river or space, after this my whole body will be separated (cut) into parts and flow in different directions. A bit scary but nonsensical.

After getting feedback from Mr. Fauzi, I decided to explore further in my first idea.
